Getting Started

With so many options out there, renting a roll-off dumpster rental or portable toilet can sometimes seem like a daunting task. Then, you have to decide which size construction container you will need or how many portable toilets are necessary.

Whether large or small, if you have a commercial or residential construction project planned, we have the right roll-off dumpster for you!

Is this your first time needing a dumpster rental? We have a lot of helpful information for you!

We recommend new customers take it one step at a time and start by looking around our website and seeing which roll-off container project scope best resembles the project you are planning.

Pick your size wisely.
Our roll-off containers come in four different sizes. Each size is designed to fit a certain amount of construction debris. Depending on which project you plan to tackle, you will need a larger or smaller-sized dumpster rental to collect all of your project’s waste in between dumpster swaps. Check out our convenient measuring chart to get a better idea of what size roll-off rental you need!

Create space at the site.
Dumpster rentals need a hard, flat surface, such as concrete, for our workers to place your roll-off container on. Make sure you have enough space for the footprint of the roll-off or portable toilet, as well as space leading up to it from the street.

Reserve ahead.
Make sure you leave yourself enough time to clear space for your rental dumpster. We cannot unload the roll-off container if space has not been made.

Ask us questions.
Our customer service representatives are here to help you. If you have a question about the roll-off dumpster rental or a toilet process, don’t be shy. Go ahead and ask. We want to make sure you get all your questions or concerns answered, so you can make an informed decision when reserving your toilet or dumpster rental. Our staff are always more than willing to help.

Dumpsters

Our dumpster rentals are made of high-quality steel. These construction containers are strong enough to handle heavy industrial waste, bricks, gravel, and wood. They are also great for holding construction materials like roofing tiles, flooring, sheetrock, crown molding, doors, and landscaping waste.

Caveman Construction Containers has four different sizes of available roll-off dumpster rentals:

15 Yard

A 15-yard roll-off dumpster measures 14 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 4 feet tall. It can hold around 5 to 7 pickup truckloads full of construction debris. This sized dumpster rental is great for smaller jobs like small home remodels or renovations.

20 Yard

A 20-yard roll-off dumpster measures 14 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 6 feet tall. It can hold around 7 to 9 pickup truckloads full of construction debris. This sized dumpster rental is ideal for shed renovations, large home remodeling projects, and large home renovations.

30 Yard

A 30-yard roll-off dumpster measures 21 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 6 feet tall. It can hold around 10 to 12 pickup truckloads full of construction debris. This sized dumpster rental is perfect for major construction projects, semi-large home projects, large-scale home remodeling, and extensive landscaping projects.

40 Yard

A 40-yard roll-off dumpster measures 21 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 8 feet tall. It can hold around 12 to 14 pickup truckloads full of construction debris. This sized dumpster rental is reserved exclusively for commercial construction projects, including large building construction, remodels, and demolitions.

Dumpsters On Your Worksite

  • Roll-off dumpsters need space. Depending on the size of the dumpster rental you need, you may or may not need more space. We recommend potential renters go out to the work site and measure how much hard, flat surface they have for a roll-off dumpster to be placed. Roll-off containers need enough room for at least the size of their footprint.
  • If you are planning to rent a 15-yard or 20-yard roll-off dumpster, you will need a minimum of a 14-foot by 8-foot space. If you are planning to rent a 30-yard or a 40-yard roll-off dumpster, you will need a minimum of a 22-foot by 8-foot space. Because of the way our workers unload the largest of our dumpster rental sizes onto the property, we recommend customers clear twice the footprint size of the 40-yard roll-off dumpster they are renting.
  • Our construction containers are designed to hold a specific amount of material. Overfilling these roll-off containers not only results in an added fee being accrued but also impacts our worker’s ability to safely swap out and transport the full roll-off to a proper waste removal facility.
  • Because of this, we ask that all of our customers keep an eye on the fill line and let us know when the debris is filling up to almost the brim. We will send a worker over as soon as we can to swap the full dumpster rental out with an empty one, so you can go right back to filling it up.
  • Do not attempt to move the roll-off container on your own. Once placed, it should stay that way until our workers come back to move it. If something arises and the dumpster rental needs to be moved, then give us a call and we will handle it for you.
  • Renters should distribute weight evenly inside the roll-off dumpster when loading debris and construction weight inside. Otherwise, weight unevenly distributed inside the roll-off container could shift while a truck is bringing the product to be emptied, causing the dumpster rental to tip during a sharp turn. Lighter items should be placed underneath heavier ones, if possible, to ensure they do not fly out of the rental container when we take it away. Debris that flies out can cause a road hazard for our driver as well as other motorists on the street.
  • Dumpsters get filled with dangerous construction debris, so make sure that you are careful when adding more debris or construction waste into it. Be safe because you do not want to fall into it. Also, make sure kids and pets do not play around the dumpster rental because they may get curious and attempt to climb in, injuring themselves in the process.

FAQ

How to Open Your Dumpster

  • Step 1:  Unhook the latch safety pin and remove the safety chain
  • Step 2:  Raise the lever to open the door
  • Step 3:  Attach the safety chain to the other side of the roll-off dumpster to secure the chain to the door

What needs to be done before a product arrives?

The only thing a customer needs to worry about once the roll-off dumpster or portable toilet has been reserved is making sure the space where the product will be placed is cleared off.

How do you load a dumpster?

Debris and construction waste can be loaded into a dumpster rental one of two ways. You can toss it over the side, or you can walk it in through the roll-off dumpster’s door.

Are there any added fees when renting a dumpster?

Unfortunately, sometimes added fees are accrued; however, that is only when you do not follow the rules of dumpster rental. Products have a weight maximum that should not be exceeded, and hazardous or bulky items cannot be thrown into the rental container. If you avoid doing these two things, you do not need to worry about added fees.

When do dumpsters need to be reserved?

Dumpsters can be reserved in as little as a one day’s notice.

Can more than one roll-off dumpster be rented at the same time?

Absolutely. Just ask!

How much does it cost to rent a roll-off dumpster?

Product cost is determined by a few factors, including location, size of the dumpster rental, and length of time. Call us for a free quote!

Our dumpsters have a lever style lock on it. Other companies may use dumpsters that have a ratchet style lock. Opening dumpsters with a ratchet style lock is a simple four-step process.

  • Step 1:  Unhook the safety chain
  • Step 2:  Flip the ratchet’s switch
  • Step 3:  Loosen the ratchet and detach the chain
  • Step 4: Pull the door open. Make sure to secure the door to the other side of the roll-off using the safety chain.

Why do you need a dumpster?

Renting a roll-off dumpster is needed because it makes disposing of waste much easier. Each rental container can collect on-site a large amount of construction waste, debris, and junk. Once full, workers will be by to pick up the construction container and bring its contents to a proper waste collection facility. That means no more long, repetitive trips back and forth to the landfill. Dumpster rentals are ideal for a wide variety of commercial and residential construction projects.

How do I prevent a Dumpster Fire?

Dumpster fires are bad. While they are not common, they can happen if you are not careful. Helping prevent a dumpster fire is as simple as making sure no one smokes near the dumpster rental and no one throws flammable or hazardous items into the rental container.

In the case a fire ignites, you do not want it to spread. We recommend customers make sure that their dumpster rental is not against a building or large pile of debris to prevent flames from spreading out the rental container.

When should portable toilets be serviced?

Portable toilets are serviced weekly unless otherwise requested. During a service visit, our workers will pump out the mess inside the toilet bowl and sanitize the temporary bathroom facility. Workers will also restock the portable toilet with two large rolls of toilet paper and toilet bowl sanitizer.

Will the dumpster break my driveway?

Our workers are trained to carefully load and unload a rental container from our trucks in a way that will not damage the ground where the product is being placed.

All portable toilet facilities feature translucent ceilings for natural lighting, ventilation vents, a locking door, and a single non-flushing toilet designed for one user at a time.
